Opened in 1878, the Birkenhead historical tavern is the only tavern situated on the banks of the Port River, opposite the Port Adelaide docks.

As you'd expect, much has changed since The Birk opened in 1878, but it still has its local characters in the front bar, always willing to tell you a few stories, which have been handed down over the years about The Birk, the ghosts and the tunnels, which supposedly run throughout Port Adelaide.
